Had almost given up on this project for 2 months. Picked it up again in January
This had a blockbuster start with SEO back in September, crazy traffic, and average conversions..
But then suddenly SEO traffic dropped.
A Google core update wiped out all the traffic. Everyone who used Job Boardly faced the same issue.
Google sucked away all the traffic from all programmatic job boards.
And instantly we were down to 0 traffic and 0 revenue.
I waited for the issue to be resolved, but for 2 months nothing moved.
At that point I had given up on running a job board. The space was interesting to me because I could drive solid traffic via SEO as jobs are always in demand.
But if no SEO, then no point.
Strangely, out of the blue around mid December I got a new subscription ($9/m)
Someone had searched for our brand name on Google and come directly to our website.
That means people had recall. They knew a job board like this existed, and when they needed a job, they would come.
This gave me a new hope.
If only, I could reach the ideal audience enough number of times, they would remember the website and come back to it when they really need it.
So in early January, me and my wife started working on the job board again.
This time, not relying on SEO, instead promoting it on multiple platforms together.

- Reddit promotion
- Newsletter
- Just starting with short form video on YT, IG and LI
Now, traffic is picking up again. And with it, revenue has picked up as well.
And the most popular traffic channel is "Direct".
Which means people directly enter the URL in the browser and come to the site.
We will continue to work on SEO, but until it picks up again, giving this all channel marketing my best shot 💪
