Choppity is a simple AI video clip maker doing $15K MRR
- Niche audience - not serving “everybody”
- Focused on 1 problem
- Small 2 person team
Love their tag line - “The AI edits for you. You maintain 100% flexibility.”
This is their revenue chart -

Do 1 thing, do it very well
Choppity solves a narrow yet painful problem.
It helps podcasters edit and repurpose their interview based shows into social media clips.
It works for videos where people are talking -
- Interviews
- Speeches and Talks
- Comedy videos
- Webinar videos
- Conference videos
Anyone who creates long form videos with people talking can create clips from the video for TikTok and Instagram reels.
And it does it very efficiently.

Jobs to be done
A solution like Choppity has instant validation because it’s replacing a job that is already being done by a human.
It’s the best example of the “Jobs to be done” framework in action.
A good framework to validate JBTD is to ask yourself - if your app was a human, who would hire it and for what job? and how much will they pay?
Podcasters already spend a ton of time and money getting their videos edited and repurposed into clips.
Choppity automate this process, and makes it simpler, faster and cheaper.
It has a very clear job to be done.
This goes back to my old tweet, the best way to find ideas for AI products is to try and replace any of the best selling fiverr gigs.
- Proven pains
- Evergreen demand
- Clear expected outcomes

Early Growth
Choppity started in early 2023 when the founders announced the idea on their LinkedIn accounts. (Zara and Aaron)
Initially, growth was slow and primarily via friends of friends.
They even used the LinkedIn automated cold outreach tool - Dripify

The founders share their journey on LinkedIn and do get inbound requests from that channel.
Over time, word of mouth has started to work their affiliate program is bringing in new customers as well.
In Summary -
- Do 1 thing, do it well.
- Apply the JBTD framework - 1 user persona, 1 problem, 1 solution
- Replace something that people are already paying money to get done
- Use your personal network to spread the word initially.
- First customers will come via friends and family
- LinkedIn is a great platform to find B2B customers - Cold outreach can work as well for some use cases.
